L'originale di questo brano era Chariot, una canzone pubblicata da Petula Clark in francese nel 1962, che ha avuto un grande successo nel paese transalpino nello stesso anno, arrivando al primo posto in classifica. E' stata poi proposta nel 1963 dalla stessa Petula Clark in Italia, con il medesimo titolo, e in tedesco, con il titolo Cheerio. Una fortunata versione in italiano, sempre nel '63, con lo stesso testo, anche da Betty Curtis.
E' poi arrivata, sempre nello stesso 1963, questa versione in inglese, dal titolo I Will Follow Him, ma proposta da un'altra interprete, la quindicenne Little Peggy March. Primo posto in classifica in UK anche in questo caso. E' poi arrivata ovviamente anche una versione in inglese della stessa Clark.
